The Saturday after the 4th of July we were all so tired. So we didn't do much - and went to bed early.
On Sunday however, we were all rested up and ready to go! We went to church, and afterwards we headed home to spend a day out in the sunshine. It was a gorgeous day - warm, but not too hot. (Remember... we had COATS on the evening of the 4th...)
We knew that our time with Tabitha was drawing to a close - so we were tickled that they decided to come out for another cookout/swim and ice cream session. (We basically tolerate the swimming and the cookout just to get to the homemade ice cream! Flavor this week: PEACH.)
The kids had a wonderful time. They swam, played, did sidewalk chalk, played on the swingset, and rode the little 4-wheeler. We even talked Tabitha into riding the 4-wheeler... and she did a great job! I think that she enjoyed it... but was just as happy about getting the helmet back off more than anything.
Before leaving, Tabitha asked to play with the dogs. This is a rare treat for us - as not many people can tolerate all of our dogs. :) So we let out the 6 "older" dogs... and they played fetch with Maggie... and loved on the other dogs. Maggie is truly the coolest kids dog ever... she will literally chase the ball (or diving stick in this case) until her legs will not carry her any more.
Since we had already had a pretty big weekend, we called it an early night - and they set off for Lexington in Mamoo's yellow car. McCaleb is truly jealous of Mamoo's car - and convinced that it is something he actually NEEDS.
Reality was already beginning to set in that Tabitha's time with us was limited... and I was already getting kind of weepy about it. It's so hard when your nieces and nephews live so far away. I've been spoiled for so long.
However, we tried while she was here to make the most of our time - and I think she really enjoyed herself. We love you, Tabitha!!!
